River
of Words Contest
Artists
and poets, grades K-12, get your pens and brushes poised for an
opportunity to write and draw your way to Washington D.C. The Annual River
of Words Environmental Poetry and Art Contest collects entries that
interpret the theme of watersheds. The contest is a unique marriage of
science, art and education and is sponsored by the International Rivers
Network and The Library of Congress Center for the Book. Its ultimate
purpose is to help children discover their ‘ecological address’ by
exploring their local watersheds or natural landscapes. Contest deadline
is February 15th. For more information, including teacher resources,
contest guidelines, entry forms and examples of winning art and poetry
from previous contests, write: River of Words Project, 1847 Berkeley Way,
