Description: Mangroves, salt marshes, slash pine uplands, and salt barrens characterize this park surrounded by Old Tampa Bay and Double Branch Creek. There is an excellent nature center, several nature trails and a boardwalk, and good canoeing. Watchable wildlife: Rufous-sided towhees, gray catbirds, and an occasional rattlesnake can be seen along the Otter Trail through the pine flatwoods. In wetland areas, look for herons, egrets, terns, white ibis, ospreys, and brown pelicans. Ownership: Hillsborough County Contact: |
