This field office is responsible for management of the Upper St. Johns River, and development and management of the fisheries in the SJRWMD-owned reservoirs, such as Farm 13/Stick Marsh, Ansin-Garcia, Kenansville Lake and Three Forks Marsh, and liaison with the SJRWMD.

OVERVIEW
The combination of habitat, fish and people management makes for quality fishing. The Upper St. Johns River Resource Project strives to keep abreast of issues from the headwaters of the St. Johns River northward (downriver) to the southend of Puzzle Lake. Based on data relevant to aquatic habitat, fish populations and people's use of these resources, they then strive to manage the area for optimum-sustained use. This includes efforts to protect and restore the habitat, to improve access, to improve the fish populations and the use of management regulations to ensure anglers and others can continue to get the maximum benefit from these resources.

STATEWIDE AQUATIC RESOURCE PROJECT
Limnology is the study of the relationships between the living communities, and physical and chemical characteristics of a water body. Issues such as water hardness, oxygen saturation, clarity, acidity, light penetration, fertility of the water, temperature, flow rates, depth and many others affect the plant communities (both microscopic algae and rooted plants, which may be floating, entirely submerged or emerge over the surface fo the water) of a water body. These in turn affect the types of animals (again from microscopic bacteria and zooplankton, to invertebrates, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals) that can live and thrive in the water body. This project helps provide limnological expertise to other fisheries projects throughout the state.

EAST COAST FISHERIES FIELD OFFICE
This project is responsible for the actual development and management of the fisheries in the St. Johns River Water Management District-owned reservoirs of Farm-13/Stick Marsh, Ansin-Garcia, Kenansville Lake, Three Forks Marsh Conservation Area, including Lake Lawton, and other smaller water bodies. Collectively, these provide some of the most dynamic bass fisheries in the state. ST. JOHNS RIVER WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT LIAISON
The St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) has numerous ongoing projects that seriously affect the quality of fish habitat and fishing, including in the water bodies listed above. These are of such critical importance that the Division of Freshwater Fisheries colocated a biologist in the SJRWMD's Palatka Headquarters to serve as a liaison. Mr. Dale Jones is that biologist. He can be reached at 904/329-4873 (c/o St. Johns River WMD, PO Box 1429, Palatka, FL 32178-1429).
